Ghee Rice

Prep time: 30 minutes | Serves: 6

Ingredients


  • 2 onions

  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds

  • 1 large garlic

  • 3 tablespoons of Dairy Valley Pure Ghee

  • 2 cups water

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

  • 4 green chillies

  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg powder

  • 1 ginger

  • 1 cup Basmati rice

  • salt as required

  • 5 cloves

For Garnishing

  • ¾ cup fried cashew nuts

  • ¾ cup fried onions

Preparation


Step 1
Wash and soak the rice for 2-3 hours, then drain the excess water. Cook the rice, drain the water and set aside.

Step 2
Now, chop the onions into small pieces and fry them in Dairy Valley Pure Ghee with ginger, garlic, cloves, chillies, and nutmeg. Fry the rice for a few minutes with the spices before adding two cups of water. Cook for 20 minutes.

Step 3
Add salt and lemon. Garnish with fried cashew nuts and fried onions. Serve with raita or hot curries.
